"Real-Life" Networking |
In real life, networking can be done just about anywhere. However, some venues are more beneficial than others to do some meaningful networking. Networking is discussed at length in Chapter 8 of the Whiz Biz in Changing Times book and of the Whiz Teens in Business book. Networking does not mean meeting as many people as possible at random. It means selecting venues where you can meet people who have a real potential for becoming your clients, or who are in close contact with people who could become your clients. Failure to target the right persons can be time consuming and costly, especially when you do your networking in real time and in person.
Networking means meeting in person, face to face, people who are potential clients for your business. The higher the quality of your network, the more results you will have for your business. Chambers of Commerce and business associations meetings are common places to network, but they are not necessarily the best for you. Trade shows and cultural events can also be used. Just verify who is member of the network you are targeting to make sure that you will meet meaningful contacts.
