Unemployment for 16-to-19-year-olds hit 21.7% in March 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Teens will need to create their jobs! This coming summer, young people will find themselves competing with experienced adults for summer jobs. This will not make it easy for teenagers to find work, because jobless people are getting so desperate, they will take any job, even those way below their skill set. So what are teenagers to do?
One advantage you have over the older workers is that you are creative, innovative and in touch with new trends. This means that you have the ability to identify opportunities that older people might not see. So, why not prepare right now to create your own job? It is not hard to do when you know what to do. The key is to prepare, plan and act.
